This is a Remington Modelo Argentino rolling block rifle chambered in .43 Spanish.  It has a 34-¾” round barrel with a decent bore. The first 2-¼” from the receiver are octagonal and are engraved “Modelo Argentino 1879 E.N.” on the top flat. The barrel is in fair condition, but there is light dents and rust spots throughout. The barrel has a bayonet lug on the right side, a fixed front sight that was painted red, and a rear sight that is adjustable for elevation. Three barrel bands marked “U” hold the stock to the barrel. The receiver is also in decent condition, having very few dents and a developing patina. The hammer and breech block are in similar condition and the screws have very little wear. Remington’s patent information is engraved on the tang.  The walnut forend is in rough shape.  There are dents and scratches, and some chips along the edges of the cleaning rod channel.  The walnut buttstock with the crescent buttplate and sling swivel is in better shape, having only a few dents. Overall wood to metal fit is good.  The length of pull is 13-¼”, the overall length is 51-½”, and the weight is 9.8 lbs. Our stock number is #A279.
