This is the civilian version of the short lived M1 Garand USMC model 65 .22lr trainer rifle. Produced around 1945 to about 1948, this one is s/n 10,269 so it is probably towards the end of the production run as not many were made. The rifle was built to mimic the weight and feel of the Garand. Rear sight is a Redfield. It includes one 10 rd. Reising magazine. On the left side, under the rear sight, is a scratch that may appear as a crack in the photo, but it is not cracked, just a scratch. the stock does have many usage marks but nothing major. Bluing is still in very nice shape with a few wear patches but no pitting. Bore is very shiny.
