French Bierthier MLE 16 chambered in 8mm Lebel. This rifle is in very good condition overall. Cosmetically this rifle is in very good condition. This rifle is not serial numbered in anyway and is a very early production or preproduction example, with no provision for a handguard. There is nearly 90% of the original bluing remaining. The wood furniture is also in very good condition, free of any cracks or major damage. Only marked "L.I." with the meaning unknown. The bore is bright and mirror-like with strong lands and grooves. It is dated 1917, and is not import marked. Mechanically this rifle is in very good condition and it functions the way it should. This rifle would make an excellent addition to a French World War 1 small arms collection! C&R eligible!
