Very rare version of a Colt Gold Cup National match. As I was told from the distributor, this pistol was part of an order headed over to Europe. Each pistol, fully CIP compliant for the European countries that require guns to be produced according to the CIP specifications. All major parts are marked with the serial number and US23 which designates the country of origin and the year they were produced. Well, this pistol was never exported as it should have been and end up staying in the United States. Very unusual marking, on a very high end Colt 1911 to begin with. If your a collector, this is a must for your collection, when are you going to see another one ?

The Colt Gold Cup is known as the finest shooting semi-automatic in the world, and is the standard for competitive guns. The first Colt Gold Cup pistol was introduced in the late 1950's to give competitive shooters a gun to take directly from the dealer's showcase to the firing line. Colt Gold Cup pistols have been used to compete in local club matches through the National Matches at Camp Perry. It features an Adjustable Wide Trigger, National Match Barrel, Adjustable Target Sights, and many other refinements as standard.
