This 40-60 Winchester Model 1876, lever action rifle, made in 1886, has a 28-1/2” patinaed octagon barrel mounted with an original Winchester adjustable ladder rear sight and blade front sight. The bore is good with the exception of wear and light pitting. The top flat of the barrel is stamped with Cal 40-60 and Winchester’s – Repeating Arms. New Haven CT. King’s Improvement – Patented – March 29, 1866. October 16, 1850. The Walnut butt stock with patinaed butt plate and cleaning rod trapdoor, and forend are attached to the patinaed receiver. The upper tang is stamped with Model 1876, and the lower tang is stamped with serial number 53XX4. This rifle is in good condition with the exception of usage dents and dings on the forend, moderate gouges on the butt stock and scattered light pitting on the outside of the barrel, action and butt plate. No apparent cracks are seen on the wood of the buttstock and forend. Please note: The numbers 147524 have been etched on the bottom of the action just ahead of the trigger assembly.
