This .65 caliber Tower (Enfield) Constabulary Police musket has a tapered round 1" to 3/4" x 26-1/2" smooth bore barrel fitted with a blade front sight. The bore has scattered roughness and pits. Stamped on the underside of the barrel is 504 P&JH. The European Walnut stock is mounted with brass furniture and is drilled for an absent rear sling swivel. The nose cap is designed for the Lovell's Patent Bayonet Catch which is missing. An inspector's cartouche is lightly stamped just below the rear lock screw. With the exception of a splinter of wood missing just ahead of the front lock screw escutcheon, the stock is sound with only the normal age related dents and scrapes. A large military percussion lock with Queen's Crown "VR" (Victoria Regina), Tower and 1855 stamped clearly on the plate, is activated by a single trigger. Stamped on the back side of the lock plate is WC, B6 under the Queen's Crown and RA. Comes complete with the original steel ramrod. Please Note: This musket was originally issued to the Irish Police. Length of pull is 14", overall length is 42-3/4", weight is 5.8 lbs.
