1935 Smith & Wesson Registered Magnum chambered in 357 Magnum with a 6'' barrel and factory blue finish. This Registered Magnum has a Call gold bead front sight, square notch rear, and factory grip adapters. All numbers match on the frame, barrel, cylinder, and grips. This is a very early Registered Magnum with a registration number of 122. Per the included factory letter it was shipped August 5, 1935 for Joseph E. Dotson L.A. It was picked up by Goldthwaite, Preston, & Olmsted in Springfield, Massachusetts. There is also extensive documentation between the buyer and the factory as well as all of the build sheets, etc. Additionally documented and the most interesting thing about this gun is it was on display at the chief of police convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey and was stolen. It was later recovered. Some of the correspondence also shows that the owner did not want it back when it was stolen and wanted a new gun, which was eventually done for them. The finish is all original. As seen in the photos, there are various areas of thinning, handling, and freckling. Overall, the finish rates 98%. The action is crisp, the lock up is tight, and the bore is bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves. The factory grips are in very good condition on the sides of them with sharp checkers throughout. The bottom of the grip frame is scratch marked RBM Alaska 58. This is a very solid 91-year-old Registered Magnum with some interesting history.
