The Glock 42 is the smallest pistol Glock has ever produced, a slimline subcompact designed specifically for deep concealment and pocket carry. Chambered in .380 Auto (ACP), it uses a single-stack magazine for a very thin profile while retaining Glock's signature Safe Action system.

Key specifications include a 3.25-inch (82.5 mm) barrel with polygonal rifling, overall length of 5.94 inches (151 mm), height of 4.13 inches (105 mm) with magazine inserted, and overall width of about 0.98 inches (25 mm). Unloaded weight is roughly 12.17 oz (345 g) without magazine or 13.76 oz (390 g) with an empty magazine; loaded weight is around 15.87 oz (450 g). Standard capacity is 6 rounds plus one in the chamber.

It features a polymer frame, steel slide with corrosion-resistant coating, dual recoil spring assembly, and a locked-breech design that helps manage recoil better than many traditional blowback .380s. The Safe Action system includes three internal safeties that disengage only when the trigger is pulled and reset automatically - no external manual safety. Fixed sights, reversible magazine catch, and an ergonomic grip make it suitable for smaller hands and discreet everyday carry in a pocket, ankle holster, or under light clothing.

Released in 2014, the G42 prioritizes maximum concealability and proven Glock reliability in a true pocket-sized package. Performance depends heavily on quality defensive ammunition given the short barrel and modest .380 cartridge. It remains a popular choice for deep concealment where size is the priority over capacity or caliber.
