Tennessee Private Sales Rules
Residency: Both the buyer and seller must be residents of Tennessee. Furearms are legal to sell person to person without FFL.
Age Limits: The buyer must meet legal age requirements (typically 18 years old for long guns under state law).
No State Background Check Mandate: Tennessee does not legally require a background check for private, person-to-person firearm sales between residents, though knowingly selling to a prohibited person is a serious felony.
State Law Status: SBRs are legal to possess in Tennessee.
