Rare First-Year 1970 Colt Series 70 Combat Commander 9mm – Factory Satin Nickel (All Steel)
For sale is an exceptionally rare, first-year production 1970 Colt Commander Model chambered in the highly desirable 9mm Luger.
1970 marked the absolute inaugural year of the all-steel frame version. This piece features the highly collectible "70-SC" serial prefix, where the "SC" explicitly denotes "Steel frame, Satin Nickel finish" from the factory. Because it is an early 1970 production model, it carries the correct, pre-Combat roll mark on the right side of the slide: "COLT'S COMMANDER MODEL" (Colt added the word "Combat" shortly after this run).
While standard .45 ACP models are more common, original vintage configurations in 9mm Luger with the factory satin nickel finish are incredibly difficult to find intact and un-refinished.
