Modern Chamber (2-3/4"): Because it was made well after the 1927 transition, your 16-gauge shotgun came from the factory chambered for modern 2-3/4 inch shells. You do not have to hunt down specialized or short 2-9/16" vintage ammunition; standard 16-gauge field loads off the shelf will work safely.

The "Golden Era" Build: Guns built in the early 1950s are considered "Pre-64" models. They are highly desired because they were completely machined from forged steel blocks and hand-fitted by Winchester craftsmen before the company simplified manufacturing in 1964.
