Savage has been making dependable, tough rifles for well over a century. Developed in the 1950s, the Model 11 has been their flagship rifle for generations. This model is the Hunter version with a durable black polymer stock and a detachable magazine.

This Model 11 rifle features a typical bolt action, with a two-lug bolt arrangement comparable to other Savage models. Unique to the Savage lineup of rifles is its floating bolt head design, which provides for much higher accuracy potential among rifles at this price point. This rifle also features a simple tang-mounted safety falls right under the shooter’s thumb – this safety has three positions: fire, safe, and bolt lock. The Accu-Trigger, as expected, is crisp and light, and is user-adjustable. The action of this rifle is in Excellent condition, operating smoothly with no binding or hangups. The bluing on the receiver and barrel is in overall Excellent condition. Under studio lighting, the receiver finish shows a slight conversion to a plum purple color.

The rifle is fitted with a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40, which offers an appropriate range of magnification for the ranges expected of this rifle. This scope features the Dead On Accurate (DOA) 600 reticle, with bullet drop stadia lines out to 600 yards, with wind holds. The scope is in Excellent condition with clear, crisp glass. Only very limited handling marks are noted on the scope.

The rifle’s 22” barrel is factory standard. Under studio lighting, the finish on the barrel notes a few very small, insignificant dots of surface oxidation. The bore is in Excellent condition with sharp lands and grooves and a mirror bright finish. The crown is in similar condition.

The rifle’s furniture is factory standard, being a polymer type with aggressive grip and forend texturing. Only light wear and scuffs are noted on the stock. The factory 4-round detachable magazine is present and in good working order.

This Savage Model 11 is just in time for hunting season. It is a hard-hitting, dependable .308 that will put food on the table at an attractive price.
