Up for purchase is an exceptionally rare, beautifully conserved Imperial Japanese Type 30 School House / Military Drill Training Bayonet, complete with its steel scabbard and a premium, high-quality reproduction leather display frog.
Beginning in the 1930s and running until the end of World War War II, students in Japan were required to undergo mandatory military bayonet drill as part of their educational curriculum. This specialized variant was manufactured specifically for those classroom non-firing training rifles.

Condition Details:
This historic trainer is in excellent collectible condition. The factory-blunted blade profile remains straight and rigid with an unsharpened edge line designed for safe student drills. The softer cast metals of the early-pattern hooked crossguard and pommel exhibit an authentic, uncleaned dark patina. The original wood wrap-around grip scales are firmly pinned, showing gorgeous field-handling marks and a crisp, clear stamped inventory number. The locking press-stud mechanism tracks smoothly. The accompanying steel scabbard has the dings, dents, and scrapes one would expect of a training item of its age. It fits securely in the frog, holds the blade without binding or obstruction, and preserves its period-correct finish beautifully. While difficult to see in the photographs, there is a slight "wiggle" in the bayonet tip in the final half inch of the blade. The included reproduction leather frog is brand new, supple, and robust—making it perfect for immediate belt or wall display without risking damage to a fragile original artifact.
