For sale is a pre-1899 Antique Chilean Mauser Modelo 1895 Short Rifle (Mosqueton). Manufactured by Ludwig Loewe & Co. in Berlin

This is the scarcer, highly sought-after 41-inch short rifle variant featuring the factory turned-down bolt handle. It makes for a much handier and more compact piece than the common full-length infantry rifles.

  • Receiver & Markings:  Chilean coat of arms crest on the receiver ring. The left side of the receiver is clearly stamped with the Ludwig Loewe manufacturer markings. "C" serial block prefix.
  • Stock: The wood is physically sound, solid, and free of any cracks or structural damage. It appears to have been lightly sanded in the past, leaving the finish clean but making the original Chilean military stock cartouche faint/light.
  • Bore: Good to very good condition. The inside of the barrel looks clean with strong, sharp, and distinct rifling—making this an excellent candidate for the range.
  • Serial Numbers: Receiver is a C-prefix and the bolt is a mismatched A-prefix. Aside from the bolt, the rifle remains in its correct, unaltered military configuration.

Chambered in the legendary 7x57mm Mauser, this rifle is an affordable entry point into 19th-century German military surplus. It is the perfect balance for someone looking for a classic vintage shooter that still looks beautiful on display.
