U.S. Model of 1917 Eddystone Enfield Rifle – $1,000- NOT looking to Trade

Offered is a U.S. Model of 1917 (M1917) Enfield rifle manufactured by Eddystone, bearing serial number 1327911. The M1917 was the American adaptation of the British Pattern 1914 Enfield and became one of the principal U.S. service rifles of World War I.

This rifle represents the Eddystone-manufactured variant of the M1917, produced by the Eddystone Arsenal/Remington Arms operation during the World War I era. Eddystone produced more M1917 rifles than either of the other two manufacturers, Remington and Winchester, making Eddystone examples particularly representative of the massive American wartime production effort.

The rifle features the characteristic M1917 Enfield action and long military configuration, chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The receiver is marked “U.S. Model of 1917”, with Eddystone markings identifying the manufacturer. Serial number 1327911 is located on the receiver.

The M1917 has considerable historical significance as a U.S. military rifle of the First World War and saw extensive service both overseas and stateside. Its distinctive Enfield action, substantial construction, and role in the American Expeditionary Forces make it an important and highly collectible U.S. martial arm.
