Danish Krag Model 89 from Coldbrook Armory near Rincon, Savannah, GA

$ 1,250

Product Description

This is a Danish Krag Model 89 in very good original condition. It features the unique vertically hinged magazine door that opens forward, a magazine cut-off for single-shot use, and a sleeved barrel designed for improved accuracy and protection. The Krag is a bolt-action rifle that served as the standard-issue rifle for the Danish infantry from 1890 until the onset of World War II. It is chambered for the 8mm x 56R cartridge.

The rifle is dated by the number following the “GEVÆRFABRIKEN KJØBENHAVN” stamping on the receiver, which indicates 1897. Starting in 1910, Danish Krag rifles were fitted with a safety, which is the pivoting mechanism located on the right rear of the receiver. This rifle has had that modification completed.

All visible serial numbers match the receiver number, including the barrel, bolt, stock, and bayonet

1897 Manufacture: Dated 1897 by the receiver markings, with the later 1910 safety modification.

Matching Numbers: Visible serial numbers match across the receiver, barrel, bolt, stock, and bayonet lug.

Original Features: Retains the distinctive forward-opening magazine door, magazine cut-off, and sleeved barrel.
