Item Description:
Up for auction is a classic piece of World War II military history: a British Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I chambered in the iconic .303 British.
This specific rifle was manufactured in the United Kingdom at the Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF) Fazakerley (indicated by the "PF" prefix serial number on the butt socket band). The left side of the receiver is cleanly stamped "No. 4 Mk I."
Unlike the earlier WWI-era SMLE models, the No. 4 Mk I features the vastly improved rear receiver aperture (peep) sight, making it an incredibly accurate and fast-handling battle rifle. The rifle features correct wartime style wooden stock furniture, a traditional brass buttplate, and includes one 10-round magazine.
Condition & Features:
  • Stock & Woodwork: The wooden stock has been sanded and refinished by a previous owner. It features a very clean, smooth finish with minimal field dings, though the original military stock stamps or cartouches are no longer present due to the sanding. The wood remains structurally solid with no visible cracks. It features a correct brass buttplate with the storage trapdoor intact.
  • Receiver & Metalwork: Clean markings on the side of the receiver and the butt socket band. The metal finish shows typical military service wear and patina, giving it an authentic look.
  • Mechanics: The bolt functions smoothly, and the trigger pull is crisp.
