Chinese Type 53 Mosin-Nagant Carbine – 7.62×54R – 1955 $450 OBO (Auburn/Opelika)
This rifle is part of my dad’s estate and is one of several firearms I’ve been going through and identifying.
Chinese Type 53 Mosin-Nagant carbine, chambered in 7.62×54R. This is the Chinese version of the Soviet M44-pattern carbine and has the integral side-folding bayonet.
The barrel-shank markings are dated 1955 and include the Chinese/arsenal markings shown in the photos. The rifle is numbered 3144077, and that number also appears on the bottom metal/trigger-guard area. The bolt is numbered 3150500, so the bolt is not matching.
The wood and metal show the normal dents, scratches, finish wear and other signs of use you would expect from an older military-surplus rifle. I have tried to photograph the markings and overall condition clearly.
