Auto-Ordnance 1911 Tanker Edition 45 ACP 5in OD Green Cerakote Pistol — New In Box

This is the Tanker Edition of Auto-Ordnance’s GI 1911 — an all-steel, full-size .45 finished in Army OD Green Cerakote across both the slide and the frame, with the white star of a Sherman tank engraved on each, and checkered wood grips carrying the US medallion. It is a working tribute gun rather than a safe queen: the same GI-pattern sights, trigger, grip safety and controls the original carried.

Five-inch barrel, 7+1 of .45 ACP, 39 ounces of steel and 8.5 inches overall. One seven-round magazine ships with it.

A GI 1911, Finished Like Armour

The appeal here is that it is not a modernised 1911 wearing a paint job. The controls, the arched mainspring housing, the spur hammer and the small fixed sights are the GI pattern, which is what makes the OD green and the tank star read as period rather than costume. If you want a 1911 that looks like it came off a tank deck and still shoots like a service pistol, this is the configuration.

What To Expect From GI Sights

Worth saying plainly: the sights are small, fixed and GI-pattern. That is correct for the gun and part of the character, but if you are after a modern three-dot or night sight setup out of the box, this is not that pistol. Everything else — the steel frame, the finish, the grips — is what you are paying for.
