Selling my WWI British Mk.1 37mm signal launcher made by H&R.


Nerdy fun fact: this was the base gun used to create Boba Fetts blaster prop in StarWars and The Mandalorian... 


 


Heres the details: The British Government at the outbreak of war contracted with the American company Harrington and Richardson (H&R) to supply them with a small number of these British pattern flare guns. Most got used up over time so these are pretty rare at this point. And this one's a real survivor, the guy I bought it from said it was also later used as a tear gas launcher in WA State corrections for decades (which explains the electro penciled rack numbers). It's stamped with crown and arrow proof marks showing it was accepted into British military use. In overall quite good condition for its age and history. Most of its original bluing is left with spots of light freckling. No pitting anywhere. The receiver finish has gone a plum patina color. Bore is clean. Wood stock has a crack, but it looks like it was repaired at some point and seems pretty solid to me. The only issue is the original rubber buttpad has crumbled away in the last 110+ years, but the nice thing is the original buttpad screws are still present. It's in perfect working condition; locks up strong and hammer still cocks back and snaps hard. Very well-made milled steel old school quality. I haven't personally fired it but I'm sure it still launches flares like the day it was made!
