This Marlin .30-30 lever-action rifle is in complete working order and remains an honest, unaltered example of its age. Overall, I would rate it in good condition. Two items to disclose. The buttplate is missing. The barrel band needs to be rethreaded as it doesn't hold the screw. The original barrel band is shown in the pictures. I still have the original screw. The screw can easily be replaced but I figured it would be better to keep the original stock pieces together and have the original barrel band rethreaded.
The rifle retains its original finish, which has developed a beautiful natural patina over the years. The bluing is beginning to take on some marbled rainbow hues in areas, giving it the character that many collectors appreciate. It has never been refinished, restored, or modified.
There is some very light pitting on portions of the barrel, but nothing significant. The stock shows the expected nicks and handling marks that come with age, all of which appear old and contribute to the rifle's authentic appearance.
Please review the photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
