Offered for sale is a U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag, serial number 388747. This rifle is 100% period complete, including the original butt trap cleaning kit, and features a strong, visible cartouche. Externally it shows honest military wear with attractive patina and remains very presentable. The bore is dark and peppery from age and likely corrosive ammunition use, making this an excellent collector, display, or restoration piece. Resembling many Krags retained by American Legion and VFW posts for ceremonial service, it has the character and history collectors appreciate. As with any antique military firearm, it should be thoroughly inspected by a qualified gunsmith before firing live ammunition. A solid, honest Krag that would make a great addition to any U.S. military collection.
