When Germany occupied Belgium in 1914, deliveries of the m/1907 from FN ceased. Sweden decided to manufacture the pistol at Husqvarna Vapenfabrik, but the production tools were not ready until 1917, when Swedish production of the m/1907 began. Two parallel numbering systems existed: one civilian (usually marked with an H) and one military. A shortage of military pistols led to civilian-produced pistols being converted for military use, receiving military acceptance markings, which created considerable confusion in serial numbers. The age of a pistol can only be determined by examining the text on the slide in combination with its serial number. There were civilian m/07s that became military and military pistols that became civilian. FN-produced pistols (M1903) without any acceptance stamps, as well as HVA pistols, indicate they were sold directly to civilians—by Berghaus in the case of FN, or by HVA as the civilian model No. 500. Production of the m/1907 at Husqvarna Vapenfabrik continued until 1941, when HVA began producing the m/1940. Subsequently, 584 m/1907 pistols were assembled from old spare parts until 1942. Even at the turn of the millennium, when these pistols were sent for destruction, enough spare parts remained to build more than 200 pistols, but all were destroyed.
