Springfield Armory M1 Garand with Orion 7 Enterprises National Match upgrades.

Rifle is in excellent condition, as is the walnut stock and its handguards  – I’ve only shot 32 rounds through it since I purchased it from the owner in Apr of 2023…   Very clean when I obtained it…   Leather sling included.

This Springfield Armory rifle receiver is S/N 2854xxx.   Per the USRifleM1.com website, this receiver is production-dated May 1944. 

The ‘Revised 1997’ Orion 7 Enterprises, Inc. “manual” that details the Garand rifle grades and National Match (NM) upgrades available at that time (1997), along with the original owner’s receipt of the purchased rifle and its upgrades as of 7/2/97, is included.

The rifle grades and upgrades in 1997 were a wee bit different in scope (and price!!) compared to those currently shown on the 2026 Orion 7 – the M1 Garand Specialists (M1Garand.com) website.

This Springfield Armory Orion 7 rifle’s 1997 receipt shows it is the “Select Grade” M1 Garand, with “The Major” NM (National Match) Upgrade.

·      1997 ‘Select Grade’ Garand:   “Assembled with first quality U.S.G.I. parts.  New walnut stock and handguards.  New U.S.G.I. spec barrel available in 30-06 or popular 308 Win.  These Garands shoot as good as they look.  A solid, well built rifle with the shooter in mind.  Our best seller!  Guaranteed under 2.5 M.O.A.”

 

·      1997 “The Major” NM upgrade:   “Full Match conditioning.  All work as described in (The Captain) above including full bedding of firearm and installation of complete NM rear sights capable of ½ minute adjustments for both elevation and windage.”

 

·      1997 “The Captain” NM upgrade (included in “The Major”):  

“Basic accurizing package for the budged shooter who wants to greatly increase the performance of his rifle using as many stock parts as originally equipped on the rifle.  If barrel meets our minimum requirements for serviceability and accuracy we perform the following:  National Match tune your trigger assembly, tighten and correctly modify to NM specs your gas cylinder assembly, unitize your front handguard to lower band and tighten to barrel, install hooded match rear sight aperture and .062 blade NM front sight, and correctly fit all critical parts.  This is our basic NM upgrade package and recommended for individuals who have recently purchased an M1 and would like to start competition.”
