The Glock 20SF (Short Frame) Gen 3 represents a crucial engineering milestone for heavy-caliber semi-automatic handguns, successfully adapting the raw, authoritative power of the 10mm Auto cartridge into a highly manageable physical profile. Standard full-size 10mm polymer frames traditionally featured a deep grip circumference that could prove challenging for shooters with average or smaller hand sizes. To fix this, Glock engineered the Short Frame (SF) architecture by reducing the front-to-back distance of the receiver frame backstrap by approximately 2.5mm. This subtle structural adjustment moves the shooter's hand forward, shortening the trigger reach and significantly improving weapon tracking and recoil control during rapid, full-power strings of fire.
