This is Kimber’s Commander-length answer to the modern 2011: full-size grip and capacity, 4.25" slide and barrel, optics-ready from the factory, and finished in Coyote PVD over a black DLC steel subframe. It is not a rebadged race gun. It is Kimber’s own double-stack 1911 platform — assembled one pistol at a time by a single technician — aimed at shooters who want 1911 trigger feel with 19-round class capacity and a slide short enough to carry.

Why the 2K11 Pro exists

Kimber launched the full-size 2K11 in late 2024 as its first true double-stack 1911. The Pro followed in 2025: same grip, same magazines, same GT trigger and tool-less guide rod, with the slide and barrel cut to 4.25" Commander length. That is the classic 1911 compromise — shorter slide for holster work, full grip for control and capacity. Kimber kept the 9mm and .45 ACP options when most of the 2011 market went 9mm-only. This Coyote is the 9mm aluminum-grip version: Coyote PVD slide, black DLC barrel and subframe, Stan Chen magwell.

The platform details that matter to 1911 people are all here. Bull-style fluted barrel with an integral ramp (no separate barrel bushing). External extractor. Tool-less guide rod so you can detail-strip without a paper clip and a prayer. Enhanced subframe geometry for magazine control. Disconnector ramp in the slide. Ambi safety. Factory optic cut with a real C&H plate, not a mystery Chinese plate.

Kimber, briefly

Kimber started in 1979 as Kimber of Oregon — Jack and Greg Warne building high-grade rimfire rifles in Clackamas. After a late-80s collapse and revival, the company rebuilt itself around the 1911 and became the highest-volume premium 1911 maker in the country. Kimber pistols have been used by the USA Shooting Team, LAPD SWAT, and U.S. Marines assigned to Central Command. In 2018 Kimber put a 225,000 sq ft plant on 80 acres in Troy, Alabama; corporate headquarters followed in 2020. This pistol is marked KIMBER TROY AL USA. That is not marketing copy. That is where it was built.

Kimber’s line on the 2K11 is the same line they have used for decades: What all guns should be. On this gun that means a 1911 trigger in a double-stack gun that a single assembler signed off on, not a parts bin 2011.
