History:

Forehand & Wadsworth was established in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1871 by Sullivan Forehand and Henry Wadsworth (sons-in-law of famous gunmaker Ethan Allen). When Wadsworth retired in 1890, the firm became Forehand Arms Co. Because this barrel rib is roll-stamped "FOREHAND & WADSWORTH, WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. PAT'D DEC. 7-86 & JAN. 11-87", it was manufactured between late 1886 and 1890, preceding the 1898 federal antique deadline.
