FN49 with original type dovetail scope mount & Weaver K4 scope near North Phoenix, Phoenix, AZ

Fabrique Nationale Model 1949 semi-automatic rifle from the first Venezuelan contract, chambered in 7x57 Mauser. This Belgian-made FN49 is configured with the original type dovetail scope mount($400)and includes a vintage Weaver K4 optic($150). The rifle is identified as an early production piece from the initial manufacturing run, with a serial number below 1800. Production of the FN49 totaled fewer than 100,000 rifles across all contracts, with approximately 8,000 produced in 7x57 Mauser for the Venezuelan contract. The rifle is described as having approximately 150 rounds fired through it. Included are the dovetail scope setup with Weaver K4 scope installed, a locking TSA-approved hard case, 10 Mauser stripper clips, 6 snap cap dummy rounds, a extra set of recoil springs, extra magazine spring, 100 rounds of S&B FMJ ammo,  and the manual. The configuration combines the original iron sights with a period-style optic arrangement associated with the early FN49 pattern.

The rifle is very accurate with irons or optic. Chambered in 7x57 Mauser, the recoil is very manageable, great for long range shooting. FN started work on this rifle in the early 1930's, but wasn't quite ready for WWII. The rifle is the last of the semi auto battle rifles. Four years after the release of this rifle, FN dropped the FAL on the world, and production stopped on the FN49. Less than 100K of these rifles were made, only 8000 in 7X57.
