CZ vz.82 – 9x18 (Makarov), Serial #125596, Ceska Zbrojovka, Uhersky Brod, 1989.
History:
Produced 1983-1992. The vz.82 replaced the 7.62x25 Tokarev vz.52 pistol in Czechoslovak military service in 1983. The choice of cartridge, the 9x18 Makarov, reflects Warsaw Pact enforced standardization by the Soviet Union at that time. The bore is chrome plated, with polygonal rifling. It was the first service pistol to feature both ambidextrous magazine release and frame-mounted thumb safety. In 1992 vz.82 production ceased, replaced by the continuing vz.83, which differed primarily by the addition of a commercial variant with a greater choice of calibers. The vz.82 was specially added to the C&R List by BATFE in February 2007 in the “museum interest” category.
Condition:
I purchased this CZ vz.82 in 2013 as a hand-picked choice from Aim Surplus. It was my range-choice gun for several years, before my vision blurred – a blast to fire at self-defence distances, with a solid confidence building heft to it. The visual condition of the metal and composite grips is very good, with only some minor handling marks. Mechanically, this CZ is in excellent condition. This unit is marked “s h e 89” with “crossed swords”, and thus is a 1989 military production model. The barrel has the “circle T” marking to designate the military proof test, with barrel and frame having matching serial numbers. The import marking is on the slide: “C.A.I. GEORGIA VT / CZECH Mod. CZ 82 9 X 18”, with “CZ11753” on the grip strap. 3.8” barrel, weight 28 oz., overall length 6.8”, 12-round magazine.
Accessories:
Comes with two holsters, one a Czech-made, black leather belt holster marked “Zili PRAHA” with fox's profile in the oval, plus “CZ 82/83”. The other is a tan leather belt holster with extensive military markings. Also comes with five magazines, three with the original military “crossed swords” markings, and two being more modern unmarked repros.
Prefer a simple face-to-face cash sale in Aiken, SC, on a standard SC Gun Bill of Sale. As an incentive for a F-T-F sale, I will throw in a 49-round box of Silver Bear 9mm 94 gr. Makarov HP ammo. Might consider shipment (w/o ammo) to a FFL01 who will accept USPS Priority Mail shipment from a FFL03 – purchaser to pay actual cost of shipment/insurance. No interest in trades.
