Model 1870 Springfield Trapdoor 50/70 near Hastings, Minneapolis / St. Paul, MN

For Sale Only/Cash Sale

1870 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle

50/70 Caliber (comes with 50 rounds of black powder cartridges)

This is the last version of the 1866 Springfield Trapdoors prior to the development of the .45/70 Trapdoors.  The early versions were Allin conversions of the Springfield musket.

This example has an excellent bore and shoots very well.   It has been refinished but very nicely done.  Many of the government markings are removed and the hardware has been nicely case colored.  Some markings under the barrel and on the top of the trapdoor remain albeit faint.  Under magnification the US, eagle and 1870 are visible.

If you're looking for a great shooter from the early west US military history this may fit your needs.

comes in a cloth case, 50 rounds, and a reproduction sling.
