Savage introduced the Renegauge in 2020, and has possibly perfected the all-in-one gas operated shotgun. This model is extremely versatile and, while primarily intended for spring turkey hunting, is ready for whatever might come its way. It is absolutely loaded with features meant to guarantee a very long service life: a nitrided barrel, chrome-plated operating components, self-regulating and recoil-reducing gas system, customizable stock LOP and comb height, oversized controls, a drilled & tapped receiver for optics mounting; and threads for Benelli Mobil-type chokes. Its 4-round magazine is more than enough for typical hunting purposes.

The Renegauge's D.R.I.V. semi-automatic gas operation provides quick follow-up shots while reducing felt recoil compared to other inertia-locked semi-automatic shotguns. The D.R.I.V. system permits seamless operation with any size 12ga shell, from the lightest 2 ¾” target load to the most punishing 3” magnums. Furthermore, the gun’s operating components are chrome-plated. Its combination of a 24” barrel, adjustable choke system, semi-automatic action, and durable camouflage finish makes it a highly versatile hunting shotgun.

The shotgun’s 24” barrel is factory standard. It features a laser-welded, serrated vent rib and a hi-vis red fiber optic front sight. It is fluted for cooling, plus nitrided for ultimate corrosion resistance. It is also threaded for standard Benelli Mobil-type chokes, and has a Patternmaster Code Black .665 Turkey choke installed. This particular choke is notable as the choke features separating rings meant to restrict the wad so as to permit increased downrange power. It also features distinctive canoe-shaped ports to reduce muzzle rise.  

The shotgun’s furniture is factory standard, being factory finished in Mossy Oak Obsession camouflage. This pattern is primarily suited for spring turkey season, featuring more green elements over traditional camo finishes. The forend features stippling for sure grip. The stock is highly adjustable, with available LOP shims and various comb pieces available from Savage. A thick rubber buttpad is fitted for taming 3” magnum 12ga shells, and the comb piece is also of soft rubber. The controls of the weapon are similarly oversized for ease of use in extreme conditions or while on the clock.

The Savage Renegauge is perfect for the hunter wanting to get out into the field with one versatile gun. It is just as much as home in the turkey woods as it is on the clays range or defending the home. Its D.R.I.V. gas system ensures flawless, low-recoil operation with any type of 12ga shell, while its highly adjustable stock and comb permit tailored fitting to any shooter.
