For sale is an early-production U.S. Springfield Armory M1 Garand chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The six-digit serial number, 223940, places the receiver’s approximate production date in April 1941, several months before the United States entered World War II.

Like most surviving military M1 Garands, this rifle may contain replacement parts installed during maintenance or an arsenal rebuild. The receiver’s manufacture date does not establish that every component is original to the rifle.
