Authentic Spanish-made top-break revolver, circa 1880s–1890s. Great example of period-correct counterfeit manufacturing—the barrel rib displays classic fake "SMITH & WESSON'S PATENT" markings and garbled manufacturer text that Spanish gunsmiths used to deceive international buyers. A fascinating piece of firearms history.

Condition & Mechanics:

  • Caliber: .38
  • Barrel: 5"
  • Top-break action: Works correctly, opens and closes smoothly
  • Cylinder: Moves freely and spins perfectly
  • Grips: Pearl or mother-of-pearl, minor cracking on left side
  • Metal: Good condition, minimal surface rust (easily cleaned with steel wool)
  • Trigger return spring: Broken — prevents firing, but gun is complete and restorable

Markings:

  • Visible fake S&W patent stamps on barrel rib
  • Stamp "89" under grip
  • No obvious maker mark (typical for Spanish clones)
