This is a very nice Enfield No 2 Mk 1 Revolver issued to the British military in 1940. It has the proper British proofs throughout. There serial number #j8746 on the underside of the frame and on cylinder. In general, there is very minor wear on the high edges and an area of discoloration on the underside of the frame and barrel. Comes with period-correct black bakelite grips - small dings here and there. Excellent bore with strong rifling. Caliiber 38 SW, I have fired it and it works.

A J87xx number falls comfortably in the mid-to-upper range for the J block, consistent with 1940 manufacture. Many early WWII Enfields (like yours) started as Mk I but were factory-converted or issued as Mk I* (spurless hammer for faster draw in combat). The frame show markings like \"Enfield No 2 Mk I*\" a 1940 date stamp British proof marks (crown/BP, etc.), and imatching serials on frame, barrel, and cylinder.
