The condition of this collector-class revolver is Fine, with no mechanical defects. The finish appears original, showing honest holster wear and light handling marks consistent with age and military service. The bore is bright and untarnished. Markings remain clear and sharp, and the action locks up tightly with good timing. It is a double/single action revolver. A historic and increasingly desirable U.S. military sidearm with strong collector appeal.
Manufactured for the Army in 1917, this Colt M1917 was the sidearm for officers during WWI, and into WWII, chambered in .45 ACP and utilizing the famous half-moon ammo clips, (the first speed loaders.) It continued to serve until the supply of the Government Model 1911 pistols became sufficient to replace it as the official sidearm.
The holster is authentic, a bit worn, missing the brass strap catch.
