This Custom 45 caliber percussion Plains style rifle has a browned straight octagon 28”x 1” barrel with 1:66 twist and fitted with a Lyman adjustable rear sight and German Silver blade front sight. Very tasteful engraving embellishes the top three flats of the breech end of the barrel. The bore is very good – bright and shiny with good lands and groves. The P+++ grade Maple stock is mounted with a mix of German Silver and browned furniture. Instead of a nose cap, the nose of the forend has been checkered. A German Silver banner stamped with 1983 has been inlayed in the stock just behind the tail of the lock. Another German Silver banner has been inlayed in the cheek piece - reading JM Littlejohn by E Elste. Inscribed on the back side of the beautifully engraved Hawken style percussion lock is H W Robbins 7-20-78 and the initials, BGL, on the front of the plate. It is activated by double set triggers. Please Note: There are deep scattered pits in the barrel’s outside metal finish. A small unrepaired hairline crack is seen traveling from the barrel channel to the lock screw. Several gouges are noted in the butt stock just behind the toe plate. Length of pull is 13-1/2”, Weight is 6.4lbs and Overall Length is 46”. Good wood to metal fit. Made by E Elste.
