Smith & Wesson model 638 "Bodyguard" double action/single action J-frame revolver in .38 Special +P caliber. Has a 1 7/8" stainless steel barrel, stainless steel cylinder, aluminum alloy frame, fixed sights, and a rubber finger groove "boot grip." For sale by original owner. Purchased new in 2008; includes the original receipt and related paperwork. This gun has never fired a single round of live ammo! It was purchased as a backup twin, but as it turned out, was never put into service; it has been stored in a closet for 17 years. In 2009, master gunsmith Teddy Jacobson of Sugarland, Texas, did a $165 trigger job on this gun, which reduced the double-action pull from 14.25 lbs. to 8.5 lbs. and increased the single-action pull from 2.5 lbs. to 3.5 lbs, giving the gun slightly less of a "hair trigger" in single-action. Along with the trigger job, he "jeweled" the rear of the cylinder and the inner surface of the side plate (see photos). Jacobson's detailed "Actions by T" invoice, with full description of the work performed and parts installed, is included. Comes in the original blue plastic hard case with manual, cable lock, and keys for the built-in lock. Because the gun has never been shot and has the Jacobson trigger job, it beats a brand new one from the factory hands down; if you are in the market for a S&W 638, you won't find a better sample anywhere on the planet!
