Smith & Wesson model 638 "Bodyguard" double action/single action J-frame revolver in .38 Special + P caliber.  Has a 1 7/8 " stainless steel barrel, stainless steel cylinder, aluminum alloy frame, fixed sights, and a rubber finger groove "boot grip." For sale by original owner. Purchased new in 2008; includes the original receipt and related paperwork. In 2009, master gunsmith Teddy Jacobson of Sugarland, Texas, did a $208 trigger job on this gun, which reduced the double-action pull to 8.5 lbs. and increased the single-action pull to 3.5 lbs., giving it slightly less of a "hair trigger" in single-action. Along with the trigger job, he "jeweled" the rear of the cylinder and the inner surface of the side plate (see photos). Jacobson's detailed "Actions by T" invoice, with full description of the work performed and parts installed, is included. Note that the Thumbpiece (cylinder release button) is the vintage old style "straight" version; the "slanted" version that came with the gun is included. Gun is in good condition; has been carried a lot (in a leather Mika pocket holster, usually inside a briefcase) but very seldom shot. Shows normal aging wear on the backstrap and minor scratches on the top of the frame. Comes in the original blue plastic hard case with manual, cable lock, and keys for the built-in lock.
