The Rock Island Armory 1903 (RIA 1903) is a U.S. service bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-06, manufactured primarily for WWI and into the 1920s. Known for being manufactured by Rock Island Arsenal rather than Springfield Armory, these rifles are technically similar to Springfield 1903s but often feature different inspection stamps and, in later models, a safer, double-heat-treated receiver.
