Nice period footstool or storage box. Genuine, original World War Two US Army ammo crate. Constructed in 1944 - 82 years old! Was this ammo crate unloaded on Omaha beach? ...If it could only tell its story.
DETAILS: 18" high x 15" long x 6½" wide, solid hardwood, lid secured by wing nuts. Held 1,500 rounds of .30 caliber armor piercing ammunition (not included), in 5-round clips tucked into bandoleers, so this ammo was not intended for fast loading into the M-1 Garand, but rather for the many M1903 and M1903-A3 bolt action rifles. Or even, and maybe most importantly, for loading four clips into the 20-round magazines of the  M1918-A1 and -A2 .30 cal Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR, light machine gun). Pistol shown to illustrate the scale of the crate size; not included. Can deliver in Leon Valley/Helotes, Hausman Road, Alamo Ranch areas.
