The SIG SAUER P229 is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in .40 S&W and configured in double-action-only (DAO) operation. It features a black-finished frame and matching black grips. The standard magazine capacity is 12 rounds, with an additional round chambered for a total of 12+1. The design is compact and built around an alloy frame with a stainless steel slide, typical of the P229 series, providing a balance of strength and manageable weight.

This particular P229 is a law enforcement trade-in model. It includes night sights that are noted to be dim from prior service use. The DAO trigger system provides a consistent pull for each shot without a single-action mode. The pistol retains the standard controls and layout associated with the P229 platform, including the slide release and magazine catch in their conventional positions. The black finish on the frame and slide shows the uniform appearance characteristic of use in Law Enforcement.
