The Smith & Wesson M&P15 lower receiver is a semi-automatic AR-15–pattern component chambered for 5.56mm NATO. This unit is constructed from forged aluminum and configured as a stripped lower, compatible with standard AR-15 upper receivers and lower parts kits. It features a black hard coat anodized finish and follows mil-spec dimensions for component fit and assembly. The receiver was originally part of North Carolina State Highway Patrol service rifles and is marked accordingly.

Manufactured by Smith & Wesson, the M&P15 series is designed around the standard AR architecture, providing compatibility with .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm NATO systems. The forged 6061-T6 aluminum construction provides a rigid base for assembly, and the anodized surface finish offers corrosion resistance typical of duty-issued components. This receiver is used and shows indications consistent with prior law enforcement issue but retains its structural integrity and original markings.
