The "Final Edition" designation refers to a specific limited import run by HK USA for the US civilian market, marking the end of the P8A1 line as the Bundeswehr transitions to a new service pistol. This edition includes specific accessories for collector appeal:

Premium Boker Knife: Each pistol in this limited run comes paired with a high-quality, matching Boker knife.

Commemorative Case: The pistol and knife are presented in a special tan commemorative case.

Reversed Safety/Decocker Lever: Unlike the standard USP where up is safe and down is fire, the P8A1's safety/decocker lever operates in reverse: pushing the lever down engages the safety, and moving it further down decocks the hammer. The 'S' (safe) and 'F' (fire) markings are also on the frame instead of the lever.

Traditional Rifling: The P8A1 features a traditional lands-and-grooves barrel, as requested by the German military, instead of the polygonal rifling found in most standard HK USPs.

Translucent Magazines: It uses unique, metal-reinforced, translucent polymer magazines, allowing for a quick visual confirmation of the ammunition count.

Reinforced Slide/Frame: The P8A1 slide has a more durable finish and is beefed up in specific internal areas to handle the hot 9mm NATO loads used by the German military without cracking issues seen in some earlier models with high-pressure rounds.

Luminescent Sights: The original P8 had plain white dots, while the P8A1 version (and thus the Final Edition) includes luminous painted 3-dot sights for better visibility in various lighting conditions.
