This Original .57 caliber double – over/under barrel percussion Muff pistol has 3-1/16” x 25/32” straight round smooth bore barrels with a fixed rear sight machined into the box lock action. The action bears Belgium proof marks plus VC 9 on the lower breech plug. Both barrels have scattered pitting throughout and have been deeply “rifled” for the first ½” of the muzzles. A P grade European Walnut pistol grip has been attached to the engraved action. Due to possible wood shrinkage, some type of filler has been used around the action, both upper and lower tangs and the cap box. Inlayed into the butt of the grip is a hinged cap box with a gargoyle engraved on the lid. Both the upper tang and trigger guard have been engraved. A steel tube has been soldered to the right side of the barrels to house a ramrod which is missing. All the original metal finish has been stripped from the metal parts. The action functions as it should with the left mainspring weaker than the right. Overall Length: 8-1/2”; Weight: 1.6Lbs. Fair wood to metal fit – Belgium Made.
