This original Joseph Manton 12 Ga Double Hammer Underlever Shotgun made before 1898 has 30” tapered round barrels with a brass bead front sight. Stamped on the rib is “J Manton Regent St London”. The barrels bear the Black Powder and English proof marks. Both barrels have lost their finish and have minor usage marks. The bores are in fair to good condition with minor pitting in a few areas on both barrels. The right barrel has two dents and the left barrel also has two dents, all of which can be seen on the inside of the bores. The checkered P grade English Walnut pistol grip buttstock and forend are fitted to the underlever action which has retained scattered patches of color case hardening. All metal parts bear simple but tasteful engraving including J Manton inscribed on the lock plates. The action locks up tight; with smooth operation. This shotgun is overall in good condition. The length of pull is 13-1/4” left trigger and 14” right trigger. Overall length is 46-1/2”, weight is 7.6 lbs.
