Item Description

Offered for sale is a Swiss Vetterli Model 1878 (M78), one of the earliest and most advanced repeating rifles adopted for military service in the 19th century. The Vetterli was originally introduced in 1868 and remained in Swiss service for decades, undergoing official military updates that culminated in the M78 pattern offered here.

This rifle has been well maintained for approximately 140 years and remains in very solid condition for its age. The bore is strong and serviceable, and the bluing remains solid, as clearly shown in the photos. Overall, this is a very honest example of a historically significant Swiss military rifle.
