A beautiful SxS collector’s item, this Auguste Francotte Knockabout was made in Belgium and imported by Von Lengerke & Detmold for Abercrombie and Fitch between 1908 and 1910. This particular model is a medium grade, lightweight field gun with 26-inch barrels choked in modified and full.
It features auto-extractors, a box lock action, double-triggers, and 2 5/8” chambers. The bores are in great shape and are nice and bright.
It has a Prince of Wales stock with a splinter forend. The wood and checkering are in very good shape with minimal evidence of use in the field. There is some minor pitting in the metal but nothing that takes away from its classic looks. It is in outstanding mechanical condition and locks up very tight. Buy it today and hunt with it tomorrow!
This gun would be ideal for collectors or purist shooters seeking a sleek, functional, all-original Belgian classic in great condition. If there’s someone on your Christmas list that is a vintage double gun enthusiast, then here is an affordable piece of history that is sure to please!
