This is an original Colt Model 1889 New Navy double-action revolver in good overall condition with a bright, well-defined bore. This particular example, serial number 30296, was manufactured in 1891, making it a true pre-1899 antique under federal law. This model is the early civilian version and features its original nickel-plated finish and desirable 3” barrel configuration

The action functions in both single- and double-action, and the cylinder locks up properly. The nickel finish shows honest age-appropriate wear and is approximately 35–40% intact. There are scattered handling marks, small dings, and finish losses around the barrel and cylinder, consistent with a revolver of this period

The grips are original, and the revolver comes with a custom leather holster

Introduced in 1889, this was Colt’s groundbreaking first swing-out cylinder double-action revolver design — a major innovation that influenced decades of U.S. military and civilian revolvers, including those used in the Spanish–American War. The Model 1889 established the basic pattern for nearly all modern double-action revolvers that followed

If you’re looking to own a genuine piece of Colt history without spending thousands, this is a fantastic and collectible early example of one of Colt’s most historically significant revolvers
