First American Double-Action
Revolving Percussion Pistol – Allen & Thurber Pepperbox (Worcester, 1854-1856)

This is an antique Allen & Thurber & Co. bar-hammer 6-shot percussion pepperbox, manufactured in Worcester, Massachusetts circa 1854-1856. Worcester-period pepperboxes feature fluted barrels and represent the transition from the earlier smooth-barrel Grafton/Norwich guns

The pistol uses the classic bar hammer double-action system, allowing rapid fire without manual cocking—an early “point-and-shoot” defensive design typical of mid-19th-century carry pistols
