90 plus years ago, in 1933 the Argentine government ordered and Colt manufacted at their Hartford Connectt U.S.A. plant a production run of 5,320 45 auto pistols. This is one of the pistols, that were to be supplied to the country of Argentine for their Buenos Aires Police Department, designated as the Policia de la Capital pistols. The initial order that year was placed through a private arms dealer. These pre-war Colts are distinguished by their exceptional craftsmanship, blued finish, and commercial markings, bearing serial numbers from C165000 to C171000. The slides are inscribed with Colt markings in conjunction with “POLICIA DE LA CAPITAL” and/or “POLICIA FEDERAL.”
Argentine would later be licensed by COLT to manufacture Colt 1911s known as and with differnet slide markings call Sistema Colts in their home country of Argentine and also manufacture 1911 type variants like the Ballester 45.
